SAWI Bachelor in Sport & Event Management

We strongly believe that combining academic excellence with professional experience is key in today’s fast-moving world. The SAWI Bachelor program combines sound academic knowledge in marketing and communication with market orientated research, case studies, intensive soft-skills training and learning on the job. During the two mandatory internships of four months each in Switzerland and abroad the students can implement and practice what they have learnt in the classroom and get the most out of their placements. The students are matched with their interests and skill sets to the company profile.

Objective

The SAWI Bachelor program offers a deep immersion and broad overview of all the marketing and communication industry. If you are passionate about marketing and communication in the fields of sports and the luxury sector and you wish to gain extensive work experience before graduation, then this pathway is the right one for you. Besides gaining academic expertise in marketing and communication, you will develop personal attitudes such as professionalism, work ethic, collaborative skills and gain confidence, particularly in public speaking.

Detailed Programme

From semester 1 to 4, students are introduced to the Fundamentals of Marketing & Communication and Self-Management Skills

From the 5th semester, students can choose one from the two specializations available:
Option Luxury Marketing and Communication or Option Sport and Event Management

Programme Bachelor English

Specialization in Luxury Marketing & Communication: 

This specialization focuses on the luxury market and its needs. Besides the theoretical framework students will explore the different on- and offline marketing and communication strategies for this very specific market segment. The course highlights the vital role of influencers and ambassadors as communication and marketing channels and analyses the eBusiness strategies for luxury goods.

Specialization in Sport and Event Management:

The objective of this specialization is to create learning experiences that will enable the students to measure the extent of the different domains, such as marketing, events, as well as distribution and communication in the world of sport. In addition, the students will also be able to study the fast-growing sector of eSports and learn about the potential and challenges of this new type of sport.

Internship:

To gain work experience before graduation the students will participate in two Internships of 4 months each in Semester 3 & 6. They can implement and practice what they’ve learnt in the classroom and get the most out of their placements.

Admission requirements

Academic requirements:

  • National High School diploma (e.g. Swiss Matura, German Abitur, French Baccalaureate)
  • IB Diploma with a minimum score of 24 points
  • IB Career Related Programme: 2 DP subjects with a minimum grade 3, the candidate has met the requirements in the core subjects and the career related subject, e.g. BTEC
  • A-Levels: 3 A levels or 2 A levels and 2 AS levels with a minimum grade C

Diplomas of other academic systems will be reviewed by the Admissions Office.

Language requirements:

To apply for the SAWI Bachelor Program, applicants are required to demonstrate proficiency in English (reading/writing, listening/speaking). If English is not your first language or if you have not spent the last two years studying in a full English program, please provide us with one of the following test certificates upon registration:

  • Level B2 CEFR
  • IELTS 5.5 overall
  • TOEFL IBT 90

Please note that if you meet the criteria of having spent the last two years studying in a full English program, you will still have to sit an English assessment test allowing SAWI to evaluate your level of English. If your results don’t meet the minimum requirement, you may be asked to improve your English language skills before starting your studies. Admissions Assessment :

Besides reviewing your application documentation the admissions assessment includes a written assignment which has to be completed beforehand, the presentation of the latter and an interview.
